The Copas Family
Conclusion
I have always been really interested in where I come from because I've always believed that it would show me where I belong. I spent a lot of time researching as far back as I could. To me, what was most important were the newspaper articles and the historical facts that I came across while trying to piece together biographies.
I had never been given much information on any relative farther back than my grandparents generation. Learning about my great great grandfather, Charles Copas was the most exciting. After discovering so many documents and photos, I started to feel like I actually knew him in some way.
From a young age, I was taught that "Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten." It's as true as it can be with my family because I will never forget about them. It's not our blood that connects us but the respect I have for who they were and what they did with their lives.
